'SACRED / to the memory / JAMES REES Late master of / [the] smack BETSEY who departed / [this] life in the 36th year of his age / [born] in London Octr. 16th 1801 / Having / met a Severe Injury on his right leg / Jan 9th 1837 which Caused immediate amputation and Consequently he /brea / thed his last at Bristol on the 25th / and intered here on the 29th / of the same Month / the LORD gave and the LORD hath / taken away blessed be the name of the LORD JOB. 1. 21'
