'IN MEMORY OF / CAPTAIN DANIEL PRING R.N. / OF IVEDON, IN THIS PARISH, / WHO WHILE FILLING THE POST OF COMMODORE / ON THE JAMAICA STATION, / FELL A SACRIFICE TO YELLOW FEVER, AT PORT ROYAL, / ON THE 29th OF NOVEMBER 1846, / AGED 58 YEARS. / AS A MEMORIAL OF HIS VIRTUES / WHICH SHONE CONSPICUOUS IN EVERY RELATION OF LIFE, / AND OF HER AFFECTION AND SORROW, / THIS MONUMENT IS ERECTED BY HIS DEEPLY AFFLICTED WIDOW. / ALSO OF ANNE, WIDOW OF THE ABOVE DANIEL PRING. / SHE DIED AT IVEDON IN THIS PARISH / THE 15th MARCH 1866, AGED 74 YEARS, / AND LIES BURIED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE TOWER / OF THIS CHURCH'
