'Thomas Cable, accidentally drowned by the upsetting of the Aldboro' Life boat 21 Dec 1859 aged 58. Thomas Cable, son of the above, drowned while endeavouring to save the crew of a Swedish Brig, wrecked on Orford Ness beach 3 Nov 1855 aged 35 years'

Notes: Thomas Cable senior drowned on 21st December 1859, during the rescue of the Whitby brig, 'Unity'. The lifeboat, 'Pascoe' capsized in heavy seas. Thomas Cable junior lost his life when he attempted to swim to the rescue of the Swedish brig, 'Vesta', on 3rd November 1855. The 'Vesta' had been washed ashore in a gale. Cable and other managed to rescue seven of nine crew members.
