Description: Monument in the Gothic style with tablets listing the names of victims between three columns placed on each side of the base. The top of the monument has a cross-shaped, pitched roof with a spire or obelisk in the centre. Relief carvings of the disaster on the sides. The monument is surrounded by iron railings. Notes: At the entrance to Manukau Harbour, a little to the north of Windy Point,is a spot marked on the chart as Pascoe Point and it seems likely that this was the spot where the body of John Pascoe was recovered. The inquest on this body, was a full investigation into the circumstances of the wreck, and no further inquests were held on the bodies that were subsequently recovered.
