'Sacred to the memory of Ambrose Lennon and Margaret his wife the former having foundered in a hurricane in the West Indies on board his Majesty's ship 'Barbados' with all the crew in the year 1780. The latter died March 5 1804 Age 71 years. This stone erected by their son Capt John Lennon'

Notes: Somers' body is buried at Whitchurch Canonicorum, Dorset. The shipwreck of his vessel the 'Sea Venture' on Bermuda in 1609, is believed to have inspired Shakespeare's 'The Tempest'. Notes: DOSSIER. The San Francisco Call, 24 October 1896 reported that the iron half brig-rigged steamer Moss Brow was wrecked off Kallbadan, Finland. Six crew were saved but the captain and 14 other crew members were missing. She was owned by George P Inman.
