'Sacred to the Memory of / JOHN SKYNNER B.D. / formerly Fellow of St. John's College, Cambridge / and Public Orator of that University, / and for nearly fifty Years resident Rector of this Parish / He died the 25th Day of May 1805 in the 80th. Year of his Age. / Also to the Memory of SARAH his Wife / who died the 15th. day of April 1808, aged 67 Years. / They were interred in Edmonton Church. / In Memory also of four of their Sons, namely, / JOHN MELMOTH, who died in October 1779, aged 14 Years, / and was buried in this Chancel. / LANCELOTT, a Post Captain in the Navy ,/ who, at the Age of 33 years, perished by Shipwreck, / off the Coast of Holland, in La Lutine Frigate, October 9th, 1799 / CHARLES, who died 4th. December 1792 aged 20 Years, / And HENRY, who died 5th March 1797, aged 24 Years, / They were buried in Edmonton'

Notes: The SS 'Tararua' struck the Otara Reef on a voyage from Dunedin to Melbourne and sunk with the loss of 131 passengers and crew.
