Notes: 'The Times' 25 July 1843. Report by one of the survivors named Baillie. 'I saw Mr M'Kenzie on the quarter-deck praying with several of the passengers on their knees around him. Mr McKenzie seemed calm and collected. All the passengers were praying too, but Mr Mckenzie's voice was distinctly heard above them all.'
