Notes: The 'Confiance' was a brig sloop built at Rochester in August 1813 and wrecked off the Dutch coast 21 April 1822. This memorial is not in its original position as the date belongs to the medieval St Mary's Church which was rebuilt in 1843, which in its turn was demolished for the present St Mary's church in the 1880s. Other mememorials from the earlier churches have beeen saved, including a small remnant of the memorial to those lost at the sinking of The 'Royal George' at Spithead. Also in the church are several memorials erected in memory of ships crews who died during commissions abroad
