Marine, who was drowned / 19th October 1837, while learning to swim, / aged 14 years, 8 month and 17 days. / His unassuming manners and mild disposition / endeared him to all who knew him, particularly / his disconsolate parents, who are left to / bewail his loss. / 'The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away / blessed be the name of the Lord.'
