Translation: ‘To Sir William Heydon a most noble Knight of Norfolk, once Admiral and High Sherif, Justice of the Peace - Lady Anne Heydon, his wife, daughter of Sir G Woodhouse, Knight, longing and hoping, has during her lifetime placed this monument in token of her faithful and undying love.
He lived fifty and three years and four months. Died on the 19th day of the month of March 1593.'

Notes: The Heydon Memorial is unusual in that Sir William Heydon and his wife, Anne Woodhouse face south and not east. According to the Church History and Guide ‘... it seems likely that the memorial was made for the chancel but proved too large and was subsequently moved to the south aisle.’
