'In memory of Harold L. Lowrie 3rd Engineer HM Transport 'Atlantian' who was killed by a shark while bathing in Colombo harbour. Age 25 years. His leg was bitten. He was picked up and taken on board the P & O SS 'Rome' but died the same day on board the 'Atlantian' 1st April 1901'

He was the third son of the late Horatio Lord Walpole of Wolterton in this county and departed this life on the 18th of August, 1798 Aged 69 years, sincerely and deservedly lamented by his family and friends to whose memory, his affectionate wife Margaret has erected this stone'
