Notes: Edward Riddle (1786 - 1854) and his son, John Riddle (1816 - 1862) were headmasters (1841 - 1851 and 1851 - 1862 respectively) at the Royal Hospital School. Both were astronomers, mathemeticians and teachers of navigation.
