'In memory of / Vice Admiral George Edward Watts / Companion of the Bath, Knight of Hanover, Knight / Grand Cross of St John of Jerusalem, and of other / foreign orders. He entered the Navy 1797, passed through / a long course of distinguished service til the peace / of 1815. He was upwards of forty times under fire, / Received 2 splinters, 8 bayonet and 5 sabre wounds / and captured or destroyed 145 vessels. / He died at Malvern January 2nd 1860 aged 71. / His remains lie interred in a vault at Leckhampton. / This tablet is erected by his sorrowing widow / 'I will raise him up at the last day''

Description: The recumbent figure of the admiral shown in armour, his head resting on a gun. The effigy is flanked by figures of tritons blowing conch shells. Behind the effigy, a relief of a naval battle above which are putti, two shields of arms and a figure of Fame. This sculptural group forms the central panel of three, within pillars and pilasters. The two outer panels have reliefs of figures representing virtues. Carved arms flanked by flags are placed on the top of the monument.
