'Here lieth the body of Captain Benjamin Dollin. Born at Bristol and died in this City in his journey from London towards Pentillie in Cornwall ye third day of October 1700' [Floor slab]. 'Nearby are placed the remains of Captain Bengeman Dollin who was born at Bristol. After many years travel to various parts both of Europe and America (and almost all the world) and at length contemplating a return to this country at first to look into certain necessary business and then to settle in his native land, he landed in London on the 17th day of September, 1700, While however on his way through this City to Pentillie in the County of Cornwall he was seized with illness and died on the third day of October in the same year to his grief. Description: A full face bust of Dollin in wig and cravat is carved above the inscription in a oval recess, a wreathed skull on the top. The rectangular inscription tablet is surrounded with skulls and foliage arabesques, a winged cherub's head beneath it. A 14 gun merchantman running before the wind is carved at the base of the monument.

Beloved eldest son of Douglas and Katherine Granville Sharp of Southsea and grandson of Utten James Easson vicar of this parish 1903 to 1940. He died on active service in Ceylon on June 10th 1943 aged 23 years. The Lord lift up the light of his countenance upon him and give him peace'
