'DEVS PORTVS / Near lies buried / Rear Admiral JOHN HARRISON / Son of Captain ROBERT HARRISON / Who Educated him in his infancy in the Navy / Having himself served forty years / He was Captain in the NAMVR / the Ship of Admiral Sir GEORGE POCOCK / In several successful Engagements / with the French Fleet commanded by Mon D.A. / in one of which he was wounded / DEVS MONSTRAVIT', 'MEVS ET / He conducted under the same British Admiral / the Armament against the HAVANNAH / And brought the Fleet and Treasure / Safe to England / In consequence a successive Fatigue / Soon after his return he lost the use of one side / By a Paralytic stroke / And remained helpless / twenty eight Years / MIRACVLA SVA', 'REFVGIVM / He was firm in Action / Prudent in Conduct. Notes: Millett made at least three voyages for the East India Company. In 1642 he purchased a vessel called 'Aleppo Merchant' in which he made three voyages for the HEIC in 1643, 1649 and 1650. In 1647 he was elected a freeman of the Company and his son Nicholas was also an HEIC master.
