Notes: Goodenough was one six men from the 'Pearl' struck by arrows on 12 August after landing on Santa Cruz in the New Hebrides. Goodenough ordered his men to fire over the heads of the local people and to burn down a couple of huts in retaliation. Three of the casualties died of tetanus, the other three recovered.
