This tablet is erected as a small tribute of esteem and respect according to the wish of his Commander in Chief, Vice Admiral The Honourable Sir Charles Paget, G.C.H., who was destined within one month to follow his lamented friend to the grave cut off by the same fatal disorder. Description: A Grey obelisk in relief hung with a medallion portrait of Taylor and naval trophies, stacked gun barrels behind, a sarcophagus below. On the base, a relief of a naval action showing Taylor's ship engaging four galleys, probably representing the battle of Velez Malaga 13 August 1704 in which Taylor took part in the 'Charles Galley' 32.

First Commissioner of His Majesty's Customs in America; who lived in a regular performance of the Divine, Social and Personal Duties and died lamented by his family and friends in the 14th Feby 1790 aged 59. He married Elizabeth, eldest daughter of Isaac Preston of this Parish; who died at Andover 15 April 1805 aged 66'

Notes: Henry Hulton was First Commissioner of His Majesty's Customs & Excise at Boston Massachusetts tasked with collecting George III’s taxes from his American subjects at the time of the 'Boston Tea Party' in 1773. This protest escalated into the American Revolution (1765-1783). His son Thomas, changed his name to Preston, when he inherited Beeston Hall and estate in 1805 from his maternal uncle.
