'NEAR THIS PLACE ARE LAID THE MORTAL REMAINS OF / CAPTAIN SIR CHRISTOPHER COLE, ROYAL NAVY, / KNIGHT COMMANDER OF THE BATH, COLONEL OF MARINES, / MASONIC PROVINCIAL GRAND MASTER FOR SOUTH WALES, / D.C.L., AND FOR TWELVE YEARS THE REPRESENTATIVE FOR THIS COUNTY. / IN A PROFESSIONAL CAREER OF 56 YEARS, HE WAS 34 IN ACTIVE SERVICE. / IN 1810 HE CAPTURED THE BANDA SPICE ISLANDS / WITHOUT THE LOSS OF A MAN. / HIS LIFE WAS MARKED BY DISINTERESTED ZEAL, / INTEGRITY AND UNWEARIED ATTENTION TO HIS PUBLIC DUTIES, / AND IN PRIVATE BY HUMBLE PIETY, AFFECTION FOR HIS RELATIVES, / SINCERITY TO HIS FRIENDS, AND TENDERNESS TO HIS WIFE. / HE WAS BORN AT MARAZION IN CORNWALL, JUNE 10, 1770, / MARRIED IN 1815 THE RIGHT HONOURABLE LADY MARY LUCY, / RELICT OF T.
