'SACRED / TO THE MEMORY / OF / JOHN WILLIAM DRUMMOND / LIEUTENANT 70TH BENGAL N.I. / THIRD SON OF / JOHN DRUMMOND: / He was born 10th August 1819 / Entered the Royal Navy 1832, and the Hon. E.I. Company's Service 1840: / he died at Grafenberg in Silesia, / 15th May 1850, in the 31st year / of his age.'
Details
Description: A rectangular white marble tablet with arched heading, enclosed within a reeded grey stone frame. At the head of the tablet are the arms of Drummond: quarterly of 4. 1 & 4 Or, three bars wavy gules (Drummond). 2 & 3 Or, double tressure flory counter flory, a lion's head couped gules (Beresford). Crest: A goshawk on a toise argent wings displayed proper armed and belted or, jessed gules. Motto: 'LORD HAVE MERCY.'
