'James, youngest son of John and Mary Williams, who met his untimely death by a shot fired from a French war vessel off Belle Isle, Bay of Biscay, on Sunday the 24th Day of May 1857 aged 21 years. His body being disinterred at Belle Isle, was conveyed home by the French Government and buried here on the 1st day of August 1857'
