‘Within this vault / rest the remains / of / GEORGE PARKYNS ELLIS / Third and only surviving son of / Commander F W Ellis, RN / and Charlotte his wife / who in the 18th year of his age / full of life and promise / was with two young friends / accidentally drowned by the upsetting / of the Southwold Lifeboat / on 27 Day of February 1858’ //
