'IN MEMORY OF / ADMIRAL SIR ERNEST THOMAS TROUBRIDGE K.C.M.G., C.B., M.V.O. / 3RD SON OF COLONEL SIR THOMAS TROUBRIDGE BARONET C.B. / & HIS WIFE LOUISA. HE WAS BORN JULY 15TH 1862 & HAVING / SPENT HIS BOYHOOD IN THIS PARISH, ENTERED THE ROYAL / NAVY IN 1878, SERVING WITH GREAT DISTINCTION FOR / OVER FORTY FIVE YEARS; HIS OUTSTANDING / QUALITIES AS SEAMAN & DIPLOMATIST EARNING / RECOGNITION IN HIS OWN COUNTRY AND IN MANY / LANDS BEYOND THE SEAS. HE DIED AT BIARRITZ / JAN 29TH 1926, AGED 63, & IS BURIED THERE. / ALSO HIS WIFE EDITH MARY, DAUGHTER OF JAMES / DUFFUS ESQRE OF HALIFAX NOVA SCOTIA. SHE DIED / JANUARY 10TH 1900 AT ALVERSTOKE & IS BURIED / THERE, WITH THEIR INFANT SON EDWARD GODFREY / TROUBRIDGE. HE DIED DECR 28TH 1899, AGED ONE MONTH'
