'Commander Robert Gerald Fane (Italian Medal for Valour) of H.M.S. Dartmouth, who was killed in the Adriatic 15 May 1917, aged 35. Buried at Brindisi. Also Capt Horatio Alfred Fane M.C. Queen's Own Oxfordshire Hussars. Killed 10 Aug 1918 aged 34. Buried at Meziere. And Major Octavius Edward Fane M.C., D.S.O. Royal Garrison Artillery killed 18th Sept 1918, aged 31. Buried at Hancourt. Sons of Capt. Henry George Fane and Grandsons of the late Colonel John Wm Fane of Wormsley, Oxfordshire'
