'SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF / WILLIAM HENRY BOYS ESQR / REPRESENTATIVE OF THE ANCIENT AND RESPECTABLE FAMILY OF THAT NAME / IN THIS COUNTY / AND LIEUT COLONEL OF HIS MAJESTY'S MARINE FORCES / HE DIED AT BROMPTON IN THIS PARISH / ON THE 16TH DAY OF DECEMBER 1822, AGED 61 YEARS / LEAVING HIS WIFE AND NINE CHILDREN TO LAMENT THE LOSS / OF A MOST AFFECTIONATE AND INDULGENT HUSBAND AND FATHER / DURING 44 YEARS SPENT IN THE PUBLIC SERVICE / HE ACTED WITH THAT STEADY ATTENTION TO DISCIPLINE WHICH ASSURED RESPECT / WHILST SUAVITY OF MANNERS TO HIS EQUALS AND BENEVOLENCE TO HIS INFERIORS / RENDERED HIM ESTEEMED AND BELOVED / THIS MONUMENT IS ERECTED BY HIS AFFLICTED WIDOW / ELIZABETH / RELICT OF THE ABOVE / AND ONLY DAUGHTER OF THE LATE ADMIRAL SIR HENRY HARVEY K.B. / DIED AT ROCHESTER ON THE 22 MARCH 1850 / AGED 80 YEARS / IN THE ADJACENT CHURCHYARD ARE DEPOSITED / THE REMAINS OF TWO OF THEIR CHILDREN / EDWARD SMITH AND AMELIA HARVEY / ANOTHER SON / WILLIAM HENRY, DIED AT PORTSMOUTH / ON THE 5TH OF FEBRUARY 1798 AGES 2 MONTHS AND WAS BURIED IN THE CHURCHYARD / OF ST THOMAS IN THAT PLACE'
