'To the memory of GILBERT LAIRD, Master Mariner, born 14 January 1844 at St. Margaret's Hope Orkney Scotland. Died 25th March 1879 on board the 'Jeanie Louttit' and is interred here. The barque was used on 29 March 1879 to bury the Master. She belonged to Mr. D. Louttit of Wick, Caithness'
