'In memory of George Fleming Esq of the Indian Navy who departed this life on 15 Dec 1838 aged 23 years. Midshipman Fleming I.N. was in command of H.C.S. Maldiva engaged with the surveying schooner 'Royal Tiger' which was employed on the coast of India, Ceylon and the Malay Archipelago in 1837-8. The 'Maldiva' left Galle for Cochin 9 Nov 1838 with Fleming in command'
