'Sacred to the memory / of Thomas Latimer Gent, / formerly of the navy, and / nearly fifty years surgeon / of this place / whose mortal remains are / deposited near this tablet. / He died Nov 12th 1832 / aged 77 years. / Also to the memory / of Elizabeth, wife of / Thomas Latimer,who departed / this life May 1st 1844. / aged 82 years.'
