'TO THE MEMORY OF CAPT. EDWD. ROTHERAM, R.N. / WHO COMMANDED THE ROYAL SOVEREIGN / THE LEADING SHIP / AT THE BATTLE OF TRAFALGAR / HE DIED SUDDENLY AT BILDESTONE HOUSE / AND WAS BURIED IN THIS CHURCH YARD / NOVEMBER 6TH 1830 AGED 77 YEARS / A BROTHER OFFICER ERECTED THIS TABLET.'
