'IN MEMORY OF / REAR ADMIRAL EDWARD KELLY / WHO WAS SUPERINTENDANT OF / CHATHAM DOCKYARD FROM / 1ST NOVEMBER, 1887, UNTIL THE DATE / OF HIS DEATH 16 JANUARY, 1892 / BURIED AT / ROCHESTER CATHEDRAL CEMETERY. / THIS TABLET IS PLACED HERE BY THE / OFFICERS AND WORKMEN OF THE / DOCKYARD AS A MARK OF RESPECT.'

Description: Foul anchor above inscription, which is within a gothic architectural surround. The border is decorated with leaves and roundels. The engraving is infilled with black and red. The roundels in the corners are decorated with the initials 'A' and 'O' with two stars of David below.
