'Sacred to the memory of John Adamson, surgeon R.N. born 25 Aug 1769 died 7th Nov 1857. He was distinguished for great professional abilities, philanthropic spirit and sincere though unostentatious piety. 'Multis ille bonis plebis occidet'. Erected by his widow Thomasina Brown.Thomasina Brown born 6 Sept 1793 died 23 Feb 1878.'
