'In a vault near this spot / are deposited the Remains/of ANTHONY CALVERT Esqr./ who died on the 20th of November 1808, aged 75. / He was for nearly 30 years, / one of the Elder Brethren of the Corporation of the / TRINITY HOUSE / and for 40 years an Inhabitant of / Broadstairs / to his unremitting and persevering Exertions / that Place owes its present state of Improvement / his loss will be long regretted / by a numerous Circle of Friends; / and deplored by the Poor'
