'Sacred to the Memory of / Mr James Black, Branch Pilot, / who departed this life on the 21st July / 1842 aged 44, / and his son-in-law Mr. William Duncan, son of / the late Doctor Joseph Duncan, 45th Regt. / who died at Gazeepore 28th June 1844 / aged 25 years / Reader, pause and reflect for a while, / This is the sure place to rest from toil; / With sickness we were sore oppress'd / Kind death has eas'd us, we lie here at rest.' / This tablet is erected in testimony of great affection; / for her father and husband; by Louisa Matilda Duncan.'
