Notes: He served in the East and West Indies and commanded the 'Curlew' on the west African coast and captured pirates. Trotter was Commander in Chief of the Cape of Good Hope Station. In 1841 he commanded the Niger expedition to suppress the slave trade by introducing lawful commerce.
