'In memory of / Vice Admiral George Edward Watts / Companion of the Bath, Knight of Hanover, Knight / Grand Cross of St John of Jerusalem, and of other / foreign orders. He entered the Navy 1797, passed through / a long course of distinguished service til the peace / of 1815. He was upwards of forty times under fire, / Received 2 splinters, 8 bayonet and 5 sabre wounds / and captured or destroyed 145 vessels. / He died at Malvern January 2nd 1860 aged 71. / His remains lie interred in a vault at Leckhampton. / This tablet is erected by his sorrowing widow / 'I will raise him up at the last day''
