'SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF / THOMAS SPRY Esqr. ADMIRAL OF THE ED / WHO DIED THE 27TH OF NOVEMBER 1828 / IN HIS 73RD YEAR / AND OF ANNA MARIA / HIS WIFE / WHO DIED ON THE 21ST SEPT 1835 IN HER 71ST YEAR THIS MONUMENT IS ERECTED BY THEIR AFFECTIONATE SON / SIR SAMUEL SPRY.'

Description: The inscription tablet flanked by a mourning seaman and a female figure with a steering oar representing Fortune. Above a smaller Gothic plinth with a coat of arms, supporting a mural crown with naval trophies.
