‘Memoriae Sacrum / Rogeri Vavasor Qui fortiter / Se defendendo, & publico Patriae / Inimico oppugnando magnanimae / Succubuit Morti, / Vicesimo octavo Die Mensis Martij, / Anno Dom 1696 Aerat 34 / Et / Iuxta hunc Locum / Conduntur Reliquiae / Henrici Vavasor Filii / Vnici Rogeri supradicti / Spe Resurrectionis Generalis / Qui / Obiit secundo Die Mensis Sept / Anno Dom 1727 / Anno / Aetat 36’
[Translation] Sacred to the memory of Roger Vavasor who, bravely defending himself and attacking the common enemy of the fatherland succumbed to a hero’s death on 28th March 1696, aged 34. And next to this place are interred the remains of Henry Vavasor, only son of the above-named Roger, who died on the 2nd December 1727 aged 36.
