'This tablet commemorates the loss of the S.S. Calder in the North Sea when homeward bound on April 19th 1931, and shall perpetuate the cherished memory of the officers and crew whose bodies lie enshrouded in the silent mystery of the Great Deep, yet their spirits have returned to God who gave them.
