'IN MEMORY OF / CAPTAIN / CHARLES ALGERNON FRYATT, / MASTER OF THE GREAT EASTERN / RAILWAY STEAMSHIP 'BRUSSELS' / ILLEGALLY EXECUTED BY THE / GERMANS AT BRUGES ON THE / 27TH JULY 1916 / ERECTED BY THE COMPANY AS AN / EXPRESSION OF THEIR ADMIRATION / OF HIS GALLANTRY', 'PRO PATRIA', 'ALSO / HIS BELOVED WIFE ETHEL, WHO DIED 30TH SEPT 1956.'

Description: Above the inscription, the memorial is carved with a representation of the Merchant Navy cap badge flanked by laurel branches. The inscription itself is has a rope border with two figure of eight knots at the top corners and a carrick bend below. 'PRO PATRIA' is surrounded by a laurel wreath.
