SIR SAMUEL HOOD, KNIGHT OF THE BATH AND COMMANDER-IN CHIEF OF HIS BRITANNIC MAJESTY'S SHIPS, IN THE EAST INDIES, AND OFFICER OF DISTINGUISHED MERIT, WHOSE GREAT PUBLIC SERVICES WILL LIVE IN THE ANNALS OF HIS COUNTRY, BUT IN THE AFFECTIONATE MEMORY OF HIS FRIENDS WERE LOST IN THE RECOLLECTION OF HIS PRIVATE VIRTUES'
