Notes: Commemorates the men of lifeboat 'Laura Janet' who were lost in an attempt to rescue the crew of the German barque 'Mexico'. The figure on the top, though intended to represent the whole crew, is supposed to have the features of the coxswain William Johnson. Signed 'W.B. RHIND. SC. EDINBURGH'.
