'To the GLORY of God / & to the memory of / Wm. Edward TORRIANO LT. 71st Regt. Highland Infantry / 3rd son of Capt. Charles TORRIANO / XXX Regt. of Foot / & Hester de la Fausille, his wife / b. at MOUNT ROY, WELLS, Somerset / 14th July 1793 / Died at BUDLEIGH SALTERTON 5th FEB 1862 / He served from 1810-14 in the Peninsular War under / the Great Duke of Wellington was 3 times wounded / & was present at the actions of ARROYD des MOLINOS
/ ALMARAY, covering army at BADAJOS, VITTORIA, NIVE / BAYONNE URT ST. PALIAS, ORTHES, AIRE TARBES, TOULOUSE / & many other minor affairs & finally fought at the Battle of / Waterloo was present at the surrender of PARIS / & was with the army of occupation in France / also of GEORGINA SOPHIE, his wife / widow of Capt. James Hunt, 26th Regt. (The Cameronians) / She died at Minton [?] 7th January 1878 aged 84 / Also of FREDERICK GORE TORRIANO / 2nd son of Captain Charles Torriano/XXXth Regiment of Foot / and Hester de la Fausille his wife / He died young at ANTIGUA of yellow fever / when a midshipman of H.M. ship CARYSFORT'
