'TO THE MEMORY OF / CHARLES AUGUSTUS HAYWARD, / MIDSHIPMAN OF H.M.S.VIRAGO, / WHO DIED AT MONTE VIDEO OF YELLOW FEVER, / AGED 19; / SECOND SON OF JAMES AND RACHEL HAYWARD / OF LOUDWATER. / HE RECEIVED FOR HIS SERVICES / WITH THE NAVAL BRIGADE IN THE CRIMEA, / THE CRIMEAN MEDAL WITH TWO CLASPS, / THE CROSS OF THE LEGION OF HONOR, / THE SARDINIAN MEDAL, / AND THE TURKISH ORDER OF THE MEDJIDIE. / OBIIT 27TH FEBRUARY 1858'
